Opposition Platform - For Life has registered the draft Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine “On the Statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the seventh anniversary of the tragic events of May 2, 2014 in the city of Odesa”
The OPPOSITION PLATFORM FOR LIFE faction calls on the Verkhovna Rada to express its position on the tragic events of May 2, 2014 in Odesa. Let us remind you that 7 years ago Ukraine and the whole world witnessed the riots in Odesa, which led to the death of 48 innocent people and serious injury of 88 people.
The draft Resolution No. 5190, outlines, in particular:
- recognition of the tragic events of May 2, 2014 in Odesa as one of the most serious and bloody crimes in the epoch of independent Ukraine;
- inadmissibility of further delay in the investigation of the events of May 2, 2014 in Odesa;
- the importance of remembering those tragically killed during the riots on May 2, 2014 in Odesa;
- condemnation of the activities of law enforcement officers and other persons involved in the clashes and riots on May 2, 2014 in Odesa.
The adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of this Statement will contribute to a full and comprehensive investigation of all the circumstances that took place during the riots on May 2, 2014 in Odesa, as well as to bring the perpetrators to justice. It will allow to establish the reasons for these events, to assess the activities of law enforcement agencies, as well as to improve the morale of victims of the riots and their loved ones, to honor the memory of the victims of the tragedy.
“Ukrainian society demands justice, the return of the state to the lost principles of the rule of law and equality of all before the law and the courts,” the oppositionists note.
