Mykola Skoryk registered a draft law to significantly expand the rights of citizens to social protection from unemployment

The opposition representative is convinced that amendments to the current law on employment and the adoption of a draft law No. 3522 will significantly expand the rights of citizens to social protection from unemployment.

“It is possible to increase the amount of partial unemployment benefits at the expense of the Fund for Fighting Respiratory Disease COVID-19 (code 3511380), this is provided for by sub-item 6, clause 2 of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 302 dated 22 April 2020 “On the procedures for using funds to combat acute respiratory illness COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2 and its consequences”. It is known that the unspent money of the Fund today amount to more than UAH 51 billion.

“Thus, in order to provide support to the labor collectives of enterprises, of which there are a large number on the territory of the state, it is necessary to supplement the concept of partial unemployment with one more root cause, namely,“the termination (reduction) of the activity of the enterprise”. It is also advisable to revise the time frame for the operation of this provision. The proposed amendments to the law will prevent socio-political tension caused by the narrowing of the constitutional rights of citizens to social protection from unemployment amidst the epidemic,” Mykola Skoryk summed up.
