Viktor Medvedchuk: History will erase the memory of Zelenskyy government that supports neo-Nazi groups
Despite the coronavirus pandemic and the extremely grave economic problems, Zelenskyy’s government easily has money to fund through the Ministry of Youth and Sports dozens of socially dangerous projects of radicals, their military training camps for young people allegedly “in the name of patriotic education, further development of national identity and spirituality”.
Far-right groups – the Youth National Congress, the Capitulation Resistance Movement etc. – by means of the projects such as the Gurby-Antonivtsi field game, “Free People Course” seminars, the Insurgent Guard and Insurgent Fire meetings etc. use the money of Ukrainian taxpayers to attract and radicalize youth, to brainwash them. Radicals overtly write on their websites that the government is financing a network of regional camps such as the Pidpillya, Kolovrat, Lysonya, etc. where, according to media reports, young people are systematically instilling the commitment to ultranationalism and fascism. In the absence of any state control, young people are taught how to handle weapons and then get actively involved in nationalist actions.
The government, with its inaction and indulgence, has actually accepted cynical beatings, brutal massacres of radicals against the representatives of opposition political parties and journalists, and with financing such actions has created a breeding ground for radicalism, Russophobia and intolerance.
Recently, the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) in London, the British outlets – The Guardian and The Observer – also reported anxiously that the Ukrainian far-right Azov Battalion and the Mizanthropic Division have been recruiting young radicals in Europe to participate in demonstrations throughout Ukraine. The “Azov” has invited members of the Rise Above U.S. extremist organization to train in its paramilitary camps. However, the Ukrainian government is not just turning a blind eye to the training camps of national radicals in the country – it has helped to finance such events.
Meanwhile, that is not an ordinary stupidity, as one might assume, knowing the blatant unprofessionalism of our government, but a systemic policy. On November 18, 2020, at the UN General Assembly Committee, 122 states adopted a resolution to combat the glorification of Nazism, and Ukraine again voted against.
I am convinced that Zelenskyy’s government, which follows Poroshenko’s policy and actively supports neo-Nazi groups, is concealing the crimes of the fascist regime that was overthrown with our victory in the Great Patriotic War, and therefore deserves the strongest condemnation and should get washed away by history.
