Biolik enterprise applies for the Sputnik V vaccine to get registered in Ukraine

On December 30, 2020, the Biolik enterprise in Kharkiv which is one of the leaders in the pharmaceutical industry of Ukraine and has sufficient production capacity and qualified personnel for the production of COVID-19 vaccine, applied to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health for state registration of the Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus to guarantee vaccination of Ukrainian citizens.

Sputnik V is the only vaccine developed by the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after M. F. Gamaleya, which unlike other developers in the world, to authorize the transfer of technology and the transfer of a cell line to a Ukrainian company for the production of vaccines.  The transfer may be accomplished within two weeks, whereas the production of the vaccine may be arranged within 3 to 6 months.

Clinical trials of the world’s first vaccine, registered in Russia in August 2020, were conducted on tens of thousands of volunteers and proved its safety and effectiveness – more than 95%.  In addition, it may be used for people aged 18+, including people over 60 years.  The use of this vaccine has already been approved in Serbia, Argentina and Belarus.  Sputnik V is to be  produced in South Korea, China, India, Brazil and Kazakhstan.  More than 50 countries have applied for this vaccine.

Based on the talks with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the head of the Russian Fund for Direct Investments Kirill Dmitriev and the director of the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology Alexander Hinsburg Ukraine will have a unique opportunity to independently produce a vaccine against coronavirus in early 2021 to become an independent country in the fight against the pandemic COVID-19.

The government’s refusal or any obstruction of the legal procedure for registering the COVID-19 Sputnik V vaccine in Ukraine will indicate the authorities’ criminal intent to deprive Ukrainian citizens of the right to receive medical protection against the coronavirus, the plague of the 21st century.

We will consistently protect the right of our citizens guaranteed by the Constitution of Ukraine to health care and seek to bring to justice those who, fulfilling the requirements of the overseas owners of Ukraine, will hinder the protection of life and health of Ukrainian citizens.

Victor Medvedchuk,

Chair of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life Party
