Local elections demonstrated that OPPOSITION PLATFORM - FOR LIFE is not only the main opposition party, but also the leading party in the country
The local elections clearly emphasized the tendency that emerged last year: OPPOSITION PLATFORM - FOR LIFE is replacing the “Servant of the People” from the position of the leading political force at the all-Ukrainian level.
The OPPOSITION PLATFORM - FOR LIFE party won local elections in six regions, the “European Solidarity” - in five ones, and only in four regions the so-called mono-majority from the “Servant of the People” party ran first.
In the elections to the Verkhovna Rada in the summer of 2019, “servants of the people” “grabbed” 22 regions, except for the two eastern ones – of Donetsk and Luhansk, where OPPOSITION PLATFORM - FOR LIFE won, and the Lviv region (“Golos”). However, the continuation of the policy of Petro Poroshenko in the performance of the already new government has quickly disappointed Ukrainians. Peace in Donbas was never achieved, anti-social criminal reforms were not canceled, and the failures of the government in the fight against coronavirus finally opened the eyes of society to the true face of the authorities. Zelenskyy, who openly and clearly follows up Poroshenko's policy, was never able to unite Ukrainians, causing a crisis of trust and legitimacy of the present government.
As a result, the only party that consistently declares a radical change in the economic course aimed at creating new jobs, attracting investments, reducing communal tariffs and protecting social guarantees of citizens, as well as a national policy, the goal of which is to “stitch” the country, is OPPOSITION PLATFORM - FOR LIFE. It is this consistent position of the party that led to the today understanding by the citizens of the southeastern Ukraine, who a year ago voted for the “servants of the people”, who really protects their interests. Thanks to this position, our party confidently won the local elections in Odesa, Mykolayiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and in the Kharkov, Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions ran second.
It is important to note, however, that OPPOSITION PLATFORM - FOR LIFE is not only a party of the South-East. The results in the Poltava, Kirovohrad, Sumy, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi regions do confirm this. In Kyiv, the candidate from our political force took second place in the mayoral elections. Our representatives continue to fight for the post of mayor in Odesa, Mykolayiv and Kherson. In this way, the policy of our party is supported by the citizens of not only the South, East, North, but also the Center and the West of Ukraine.
Our party has a peace plan coordinated with Donetsk, Luhansk and Moscow and supported by European politicians. Further, only the political will of the first person in Ukraine is needed, which, unfortunately, is completely absent.
Issues of tariffs and creation of new jobs are another priority on which OPPOSITION PLATFORM - FOR LIFE focuses its attention. Arrangements have already been reached with the leadership of the Russian Federation on reducing gas prices and lifting sanctions on certain Ukrainian enterprises. If this process were reciprocal, it would be possible to achieve much more serious results that would give a serious impetus to the development of the economy.
An agreement in principle has been reached on the supply to Ukraine of the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine against the coronavirus, the only vaccine in the world, for which more than 50 countries of the world lined up. And one more important point is the humanitarian agenda. OPPOSITION PLATFORM - FOR LIFE is pursuing a policy of “stitching” the country together. In simple words, this is a policy of smoothing out sharp corners, differences in the worldview of Ukrainians in the West and the East of the country.
This is not only about what OPPOSITION PLATFORM - FOR LIFE offers to the country, but also about the fact that we are already doing this, being in opposition. While the pro-Western parties are pursuing an amorphous policy, being active exclusively on social networks, OPPOSITION PLATFORM - FOR LIFE is reaching the people, and the party leadership already has arrangements on hand to be implemented in the interests of Ukrainian citizens following coming to power.
According to the results of the Kyiv International Sociology Institute poll, published this week, OPPOSITION PLATFORM - FOR LIFE has already come out on top in the rating of political parties in the country as a whole. If the elections to the Verkhovna Rada were now held, 22.1% of respondents would vote for our party among those intending to go to the elections and having decided who they would vote for. At the same time, the “Servant of the People” dropped to the third place with 18.7%. It is not surprising that with such indicators, Volodymyr Zelenskyy speaks publicly about the possible dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada, and there is undoubtedly such a demand in society.
Disappointment with the policies of the President and the mono-majority is increasing. And the more the government postpones the elections to the Rada, the more deafening their defeat will be.
The defeat of the ruling team, which received from the Ukrainian people an unprecedented mandate for change, is the result of a deeply flawed, nationalist policy and a failure in the economy and social sphere.
