Vadym Rabinovych: Opposition Platform – For Life got inspired by the example of Hungary and is heading for a transition from the opposition to a ruling party!
On July 22, in Kyiv, a meeting of representatives of the “Opposition Platform – For Life” political party with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó, who was in Ukraine on a working visit.
The parties discussed a fairly wide range of issues – both economic and the one of cooperation. They also talked about the political situation in Ukraine, in particular, about the persecution by the authorities of the opposition party and its leaders.
“The range of the issues that we discussed with our colleagues is quite wide and interesting. First of all, we emphasized the importance of the relationship between Ukraine and Hungary, we raised the issue of the attitude towards national minorities and the law “On language”, which, in our opinion, and in the opinion of the Hungarian side, evidences the violation of human rights”, the co-chair of the “Opposition Platform – For Life” political party MP Vadym Rabinovych commented on the meeting with Mr. Szijjártó.
Representatives of the “Opposition Platform – For Life” party updated the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary also on the situation with freedom of speech in Ukraine and what kind of campaign the government has launched against the opposition party and its leaders. Namely – the illegal closure of three Ukrainian opposition TV channels, as well as the illegal house arrest of the head of the political council of the “Opposition Platform – For Life” political party MP Viktor Medvedchuk.
“Overall, I am very impressed. Péter Szijjártó is a strong politician, a man of traditional values. Members of our party were invited to visit Hungary. And we are very happy about that – we keep on working...”, Vadym Rabinovych summed up.
