Oleg Voloshyn: New Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States will be appointed to cement the system of external governance over Ukraine
“The nomination of the former Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba to the post of the new Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States will certainly strengthen the system of external governance over our country”, Oleg Voloshyn, the member of the parliamentary faction of the OPPOSITION PLATFORM – FOR LIFE political party, said.
The nomination of this candidate just confirms the fact that the creation of this system is close to completion.
Oksana Markarova as the Minister of Finance of Ukraine in different governments and under different presidents has been successfully ensuring timely payments by Ukraine of all loan payments to the IMF and other international creditors and is in good standing in their circles.
Instead of an experienced career diplomat who would be engaged in the development of the long-declared strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States, as two sovereign states, our government plans to appoint to such a responsible position a person with diplomas of an ecologist and financier who had not worked a day as a diplomat.
The appointment of such a candidate once again confirms that the current government in Ukraine is not going to give up living on debt and concentrating efforts on paying off external debts. It will not abandon the existing vicious model of relations with the IMF and other international lenders, which for many years have systematically destroyed the remnants of Ukraine’s once strong economy. The lion’s share of the state budget of Ukraine will continue to be used to pay off and service external debts.
“In this way, the appointment of Markarova as the Ambassador to the United States will be designed to cement the vicious model of Ukraine’s external governance that has developed since 2014 and to continue the destruction of our economy for the next few years”, the MP emphasized.
