Mykola Skoryk addressed Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba

Mykola Skoryk, MP from OPPOSITION PLATFORM – FOR LIFE, addressed Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba for official explanations on the position of the Ukrainian delegation to the UN, which voted against the adoption of a resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism.

On November 18, at a meeting of the UN General Assembly’s Committee on Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs, 122 countries supported the draft resolution “On combating the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to the escalation of modern forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance”.  The United States and Ukraine only voted against.

“Which values are protected by the decision of the Ukrainian diplomatic corps to vote against the above-mentioned draft resolution?  What official position and arguments were expressed by Ukrainian representatives to the UN to justify such a decision?”  the MP’s address to the head of the Ukrainian MFA says.

“About 20 states co-authored the resolution.  By voting against, the representatives of Ukraine opposed the intention of the world community to condemn the heroization and propaganda of Nazism and neo-Nazism,” Mykola Skoryk summed up.
