Yurii Boyko: Government is distancing Ukrainians from peace
The government should stop making provocative statements and ensure the negotiation process to achieve peace in Ukraine, according the co-chair of the Opposition Platform – For Life faction Yurii Boyko.
To recall, on TV air the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Uncontrolled Territories Oleksii Reznikov announced that Ukraine would no longer come to Minsk for negotiations. The Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Delegation in a Trilateral Contact Group in an ultimate manner called for relocation of TCG meetings to another country after the pandemic and quarantine end.
“This is another statement that will not bring anything good to the country. Through such statements, official Kyiv is alienating the government of Belarus. Refusal from the Minsk platform will in no way improve our positions on the progress road to peace,” the MP says.
Yurii Boyko stressed that today all politicians should unite around the common goal – achieving peace in Donbas, peace in Ukraine.
“For this, first, ceasefire must be restored immediately, as last year. Moreover, any statements impeding the process should be viewed as anti-people ones. When they say they will not go there, they make some statements on the Minsk process, it harms negotiations, worsens relations with neighbors. People want peace. Today, the main task of the government and all responsible political forces is to prevent escalation of the conflict, restore sustainable ceasefire and reduce tensions on the contact line,” the co-chair of the Opposition Platform – For Life faction summarized.
