Yurii Boyko: The task of the authorities and of all responsible political forces is to achieve peace in Ukraine

Today, the key mission of the government and of all responsible political forces is to prevent escalation of the conflict in the east of the country, to restore a stable ceasefire. To do so, the authorities must negotiate with all parties to the conflict, according to the co-chairman of the OPPOSITION PLATFORM - FOR LIFE parliamentary faction Yurii Boyko said in his commentary to journalists.

On April 29, the OPPOSITION PLATFORM - FOR LIFE faction MPs addressed the parliament with photos of their close relatives who fought during the Great Patriotic War. The opposition politicians called for a minute of silence to honor the memory of those killed during the Great Patriotic War and demanded to stop the rehabilitation of Nazism in Ukraine.

Ukrainian citizens who participated in the liquidation of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant catastrophe and suffered from its outcomes regularly address the national authorities regarding poor social protection and no access to healthcare of adequate quality in adequate amounts. OPPOSITION PLATFORM – FOR LIFE MP Serhiy Lovochkin therefore addressed Ukraine’s PM Denys Shmyhal with an inquiry demanding urgent measures aimed at significant improvement of social protection and healthcare quality for those who participated in the Chornobyl disaster liquidation and suffered from its outcomes.

Today, on the eighth year of the armed conflict, aggravation of the hostilities in Donbas hit civilians first. People are afraid of repeating the years of 2014 and 2015, when they were living in bomb shelters, when it was impossible to go out to the streets, when innocent civilians were losing their lives. According to official data only, more than 3,300 civilians died due to armed conflict. That is what should stop the desire to continue the conflict today and to move away from the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
